How we go about an SEO audit

If you’re looking to improve SEO performance, but still want to work with your existing agency, or internal teams, this is the option for you. An SEO site audit will get you going in the right direction.

We dig deep to uncover SEO opportunities on your website, which is why an SEO audit takes one month to complete from the start date.

We look at the following areas:

On-site SEO

  • Content
  • Crawlability
  • Mobile-friendliness
  • Speed

  • Inbound links
  • Internal links

  • Keyword distribution
  • Ranking keywords

Local SEO

  • Local search listings
  • Reviews and ratings

All findings and recommendations are delivered in a comprehensive report. Plus, we’ll schedule a one-hour phone call with you and your team to go over the report and answer any questions you have.

Keep in mind, our audit pricing is valid for websites with up to 3,000 pages. If your website has more than 3,000 pages, we’ll put together a custom quote, based on the scope of the audit.

SEO audit service Q&A

A search engine optimization audit (SEO audit for short) is a review of a website that uncovers SEO opportunities that could improve the organic search rankings of the site’s pages. Generally, SEO site audits are performed to help a brand understand what they can do to improve organic search visibility.

We recommend performing an SEO audit at least once a year. Search engines like Google and Bing make changes, updates, and revise their guidance regularly so it’s important your website stays current. Some websites may require multiple SEO audits per year, depending a variety of factors: online competition, website changes, and other factors.

We use paid SEO tools to help do some of the heavy lifting with our SEO audit projects. Our primary SEO tools are Moz Pro and Screaming Frog.

We also use free SEO tools to help us understand SEO opportunities on websites. These include Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Tag Assistant, PageSpeed Insights, the Mobile-Friendliness Test Tool, and others.

We bundle our findings and recommendations into a 30-60 page PDF report. Clients also receive a link to the original Google Doc version. We also deliver the Moz Pro and Screaming Frog crawl files, respectively.

We check (when applicable) the following for SEO audits:

  • Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)
  • Analytics
  • Bing Webmaster Tool errors
  • Blog posts
  • Canonical tags
  • Crawling and indexing issues
  • Domains and subdomains
  • Duplicate content
  • Google Search Console errors
  • Heading tags
  • HTML and XML sitemaps
  • Landing pages
  • Local search engine listings
  • Images
  • Inbound links
  • Internal links
  • International setup
  • Meta descriptions
  • Mobile-friendliness
  • Page titles
  • Outbound links
  • Ranking keywords
  • Redirects
  • Robots.txt
  • Site navigation
  • Site structure
  • Speed and performance
  • Structured data
